allow this nimble sport bike to
slice the streets.

For this trimmed down sportscar ride, I tightened
up the geometry to get the overall center of gravity
lower and a sharper steering angle.
Using a frame with the stock tipped-back geometry
intended for long suspension forks was an opportunity
to use an old school, pre-suspension era, hence
shorter, chromoly fork. I removed five pounds
of low performance fork and replaced it with
ounces of top quality fork.
This then tipped the geometry forward and slightly
lowered the bottom bracket. For high rpm I used
slightly short cranks for me, 170mm, and they
helped with the ground clearance.
This all really livened up the handling. This
is a sharp handling precise controllable machine.
To further lighten and simplify, and to eliminate
poor performing components, removing the front
derailleur and sprockets converted the bike
to a 7 speed with a single on the front (46).
A wide range 7 on the rear (11-30) with Deore
XT derailleur.
For damn good security: a good mini u-lock,
a bolted seatpost, and a locking skewer on the
front wheel. The system is easy to use and protects
against most thefts and almost all stripping.
